Amory Joseph Bettles went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2017. He lost his three year battle to cancer. He was born on May 1, 1946 in Klamath Falls, Oregon and after graduating Chiloquin High School in 1964, he attended Southern Oregon University and Oregon State University before enlisting in the US Navy in 1967. He served in the First Medical Battalion as HM3 Hospital Corpsman and was honorably discharged in 1971. Most of his advanced schooling was in Environmental Science. His true love was the outdoors and science. He held several occupations from tree falling, Helitac Crew, heavy equipment operator, and what he enjoyed most, archaeology. During his free time, he enjoyed Reading, Bull Riding, Playing Basketball and Softball, Fishing, Coaching & Officiating Youth Sports and he loved his friends and family. He touched many lives and was a well respected member of the Klamath Tribe. He is survived by his son, Byron Amory Bettles, Daughter In Law, Shanna Bettles, Grandchildren, Braelen Amory Bettles and Cameron Michael Bettles, Brothers, Gordon Bettles, Robert Bettles, Quinten Bettles, Terry Bettles.
*Memorial Service will be held at the Willamette National Cemetery on Monday, March 20th at 11:30 AM (11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086). For those who cannot make it, we will also be holding a Celebration of Life at the Chiloquin Community Center on April 22, 2017.
