Richard Brandon Ochoa Sr. (1939-2013) was born Sept. 19, 1939 to Manuel and Myra Ochoa. He went to the creator Aug. 25, 2013. Richard was raised in Chiloquin, OR. along with seven siblings. He graduated from Chiloquin High School in 1958. In 1960 he married Laura Joyce Jackson. In their 34 years of marriage they raised four children together. Richard ran Native American sweat lodges at the Veterans Administration Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center, as well as numerous other places, for 16 years. He was also a sun dancer throughout his life.
He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an avid participant in their lives and the lives of numerous friends.
Survivors include his son Richard “Wally” Ochoa Jr, and wife Michelle Ochoa, daughter Maura Lynne Ochoa; brother John Ochoa and wife Bev; grandchildren Denise Moss, Myra Ochoa, Tonya Cruz, Nadia Plascencia, Lorena Ochoa, Donavan Bettles, Joseph Bettles, Wainanwit Schroeder, Cecil Bettles, Victoria Mason, Joseph Ochoa Jr. Meg Sheppard, Tish Sheppard, Sanky Sheppard, Takehawee Aesohbach and Terry Ochoa; great-grandchidren Mila, Lalin, Marisol, Alex, Laura, Hannah, Orville, Scarlett, Elsa, Mangus, Norah Sisce, Santino and Gabrielle.
He was preceded in death by his wife Laura Joyce Ochoa, son James “Fudd” Ochoa, parents Manuel and Myra Ochoa, siblings Manual JR., Martin, Mickey and Gloria Ochoa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, in the Chiloquin Big gym. Burial will be at the Hill Cemetery. Dinner will follow at Chiloquin Community Center. There also will be a wake Friday, at 704 Highway 422 North, Chiloquin, OR.
