Richard C. Sconchin

Richard C. Sconchin passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 26, 2016, at the age of 65. Richard was born in Klamath Falls, Ore., on June 26, 1951, to Raymond R. and Darlene J. (Hayes) Sconchin. A great-great-grandson of John Schonchin, Richard was proud of his Modoc ancestry and was enrolled in the Klamath Tribes. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; sons, Thomas and Levi, and; aunt, Helen Crume Smith. Survivors include his mother, Darlene, and sister, Sharon Sconchin, both of Klamath Falls; sister, Kelly Jackson of Texas; uncle, Wayne Crume of Grants Pass; and special friend and companion, Dorothy Witcraft. A special time of remembrance for family and friends will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, in the Red Rooster, 3608 S. Sixth St., across from the fairgrounds from 3 to 6 p.m. This will be a no-host meal time. Richard requested there would be no funeral service, but cherished the thought of family and friends gathering to remember him around food and fellowship. Final disposition will be at Chief Schonchin Cemetery at a later date
