Summer Youth Intern Spotlight

Good Morning to all my beautiful people!

My name is Sahalie Crain; I am a Klamath, Modoc, and Paiute Native, enrolled with the Klamath Tribes of Oregon. I just finished my junior year at Chiloquin High-school and will hopefully be going back for my senior year. I am the daughter of Wedawna Weiser-Kentta and Ivan Crain, and I am 17 yrs old. I’m currently working as an SYEP (Summer Youth Employment Participant) in the Klamath Tribes Education Intern Program with Taylor Tupper and Rhonda Kruhler at the Klamath Tribes Public Information/News Department.

I’ll be working on several projects:

#1. Bringing attention and helping put a STOP to the Jordan Cove LNG pipeline! If built it will be the largest pollutant in the Western Hemisphere!

  1. Helping organize the youth summit, which will take place in Klamath Falls (Oregon Institute of Technology Campus)- August 21-23, 2017  for All Native Students!
  2. Working on a survey to bring awareness to our tribal news and avenues for communication.

Further down the road, I am going to attend college and shoot for my bachelors in Visual Arts, specializing in photography in hopes to pursue my dream to become a professional photographer traveling the world. I feel like this career is important because I want to give back to my community and let our next generations know it’s possible to get out and explore no matter your background or the individual’s situation.

Thank you for your time and have a good day!!
