As many of you are aware, the water and environment Warriors recently won a major victory in putting a nail in the coffin of the Jordan Cove-LNG Pipeline this week- when DEQ announced the denial of the permits from the State of Oregon. One of the reasons DEQ denied the Clean Water Act permit for Jordan Cove LNG was the potential for the spilling of toxic wastewater caused by drilling that could happen in the Coos Bay estuary and the over 485 Oregon Waterways this pipeline would travel thru, under and across. Not to mention, the over 40,000 public comments that came pouring into DEQ from people protecting our clean water, air and lands.
BUT, this fight is NOT OVER— we are still in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Commenting period- which is open till July 5th, 2019! DEQ is with the State, we still need to make our voices loud and clear to the Feds!
Please join us for 2 Comment writing sessions (see flyer): Chiloquin May 15th & Klamath Falls May 16th.
*Members of the Klamath Tribes Youth Council, Signal Fire with Tribal Artist Kaila Farrell-Smith, and Rogue Climate will be hosting two workshop writing sessions, we encourage you to attend or put your comment in today.
