COVID-19 General Welfare Emergency Assistance Program
The financial assistance you receive under the Klamath Tribes Coronavirus (COVID-19) General Welfare Emergency Assistance Program is tax-exempt. Klamath Tribal Government has declared a state of emergency due to COVID-19 and is permitted by law to provide disaster relief assistance to you in response to this emergency on a tax-exempt basis, utilizing the federal Coronavirus Relief Funds. The benefits you receive are specifically to respond to COVID-19 and are made pursuant to the Tribal General Welfare Exclusion Act and related law.
You will not receive a Form 1099 from the Tribes for these payments and do not have to include them in your income for tax reporting purposes.
