Gia Caprice Foster 2000-2021

On March 8, 2000, our beloved Gia was born to Wayne “Ambrose” Foster and Willa Powless. She made her journey to our creator on September 11, 2021, at the age of 21.  She was a Klamath Tribal member and spent summers camping at Rocky Ford, frequently visiting the lava beds, fancy dancing at pow wows, and playing YMCA basketball.

She attended Mills Elementary, Ponderosa, and moved with her family to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2013.  Although Gia was soft-spoken, she quickly found close friends in Savannah, Austin, and Amber. They enjoyed shopping in Denver, going to movies, and attending the famous Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. She also loved hanging out with her big brother Zane and taking road trips with her sister Reece and Mom to the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rushmore, and learn local history.  In 2018, she graduated from Cheyenne South High School and attended Laramie County Community College (LCCC); her dream was to become a school teacher.

Oregon was her true home, and she was always drawn back no matter how far away she traveled. So she returned to Chiloquin and worked for the Klamath Tribe’s new hotel enterprise, where she also made dear friends. Gia was a sweetheart, and it was amazing to see the impact that she had on people.

Her greatest gift and blessing was her beautiful son Phoenix; he was the light and love of her life. Family was everything to Gia. She was a force, like gravity, that held all of us together and kept us laughing. She was a wonderful mother, an amazing sister, and a loving daughter. We will forever remember her sparkling eyes, sweet smile, and heart of pure gold.

Gia is preceded in death by her father, Wayne “Ambrose” Foster, brother Lorentine Cloud Foster, grandfathers Gregg Powless, Pat Foster, and great-grandmother, Francis “Rennie” Crain. Gia is survived by her son Phoenix Foster; mother Willa Powless; brothers Mason Foster, Zane Powless; sisters Brittney Foster, Reece Foster; grandmothers Gwendolen “Monk” Pratt-Powless, Nadene “DeeDee’s” Foster; aunts Lisa, Jade, Kandi, Sasha, Sabrina, Mia, Wanda, Chastity, Bonnie, Carmelita; uncles Guy, Dwight, James, Amos, Shane, Gary, Paul; special person Mario Sainz; many cousins, and good friends whom she counted as family.

Services will be held at the Brown (Moosangasket) Family Cemetary in Beatty, Oregon, on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 1 p.m. The family requests that you please wear a mask. Also, we can add your name to the guest book if you do not feel well and cannot attend. A reception will immediately follow at the Beatty Community Center. Any potluck contributions will be greatly appreciated and can be organized with Becca Miller-Jackson.
