Phyllis Mae Walker (1928 – 2015)
Phyllis was born on April 28, 1928, in Oakland, Calif. She went safely home with the Lord on Nov. 25, 2015, in Klamath Falls, Ore. Phyllis was a member of the Klamath Tribes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willy Burns Sr. and Alta Noneo; husband, Dale Ivan Walker Sr.; daughter, Karen Jolly; brother, Willy Burns Jr.; and grandson, Jackson Bussell. She is survived by her sister, Patsy Garcia; brothers, Ralph and Maxine Burns and Bob Burns; children, John McNair, Dalene McNair, and Mark and Felicia McNair; grandchildren, Charlene and Charles Hescock, Derrick Garcia, Dale McNair, Jimmie McNair, Frank and Inga McNair, Kimmie McNair, Cara Bussell, Scooter Bussell and Carlos and Lily McNair; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who she loved spending time with. Phyllis was raised in Fort Bidwell, Calif., where she attended elementary school. She later attended boarding school in Steward, Nev., where she met her first husband, Dale McNair. Together they raised four children. Phyllis was a homemaker and loved to bead, quilt, sew, attend powwows, travel and spend time with family. Phyllis spoke and taught the Paiute language. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. The family would like to give a special thank you to Shelly Jones and Pelican Pointe Assisted Living for their time and commitment given to caring for Grandma. It has not gone unnoticed. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 4, 2015, Beatty Community Center in Beatty, Ore. A graveside service will be held at Paiute Cemetery. A potluck will be held immediately after the burial service at the community center.
