40 Years of Restoration
In 1954, Congress terminated the federal recognition of the Klamath Tribes. Despite Termination, the Treaty of 1864 and the rights reserved by our ancestors remained intact.
In 1986, after decades of work by Klamath, Modoc and Yahooskin Paiute people, the Klamath Tribes successfully regained federal recognition and restored our status as a sovereign Tribal Nation. Forty years later, Restoration is more than an anniversary. It celebrates our survival, sovereignty, Treaty rights, and the generations who ensured the Klamath Tribes would continue.
The Klamath Tribes welcome everyone to Chiloquin to celebrate 40 years of Restoration.
