Klamath

The Modoc and Klamath languages are dialects of the same language, maqlaqsyals, sharing much of their vocabulary. While there are slight differences, the dialects are fairly similar.

Linguistic variation existed across different bands and villages, resulting in multiple dialects. Some words were pronounced differently depending on the region, and not every variation was recorded. Dictionaries typically include only the most common forms of words.
