Word of the Day

Today we are going to look at the other 3 question types we are going to work with.

1. waq=how.

This type of question has the word “waq” added to the beginning of the sentence and has the pronoun adjusted to fit the situation.

ni panotkis uyamna. I am holding a fork

waq i panotkis uyamna? How are you holding a fork?

2. kani= who.

This type of question is made by adding the word “kani” to the beginning of the sentence and removing the subject of the sentence as this is what is being asked about.

ni panotkis uyamna. I am holding a fork.

kani panotkis uyamna? Who is holding a fork?

The final question type requires the most effort and re-organization.

waq ____ giok=why

This type of question is made by adding the word “waq” to the beginning of the sentence. Next the subject of the sentence is placed and lastly the word “giok” is placed after the subject of the sentence. The pronoun is adjusted to fit the situation. The remainder of the sentence is placed as it was in the original sentence to complete this question type.

ni panotkis uyamna. I am holding a fork

waq i giok panotkis uyamna? Why are you holding a fork?
