Reading Progress:

Word of the Day

For the three participles we have been working with, we need a little extra practice to make them clear. So, we will spend a little time on that today.

I would like you to identify a certain phrase when you see the suffixes for these participles.

For the Gerund, think of “after” when you see -ank.

For the present participle, think of “while” when you see -ota.

For the Why participle, think of “because” when you see -ok.

I will give you some sentences in English and I would like you to put them into Klamath.

1. After going to Klamath Falls, I saw a horse.

_______________________________________________________________.

2. While going to Klamath Falls, I saw a horse.

______________________________________________________________.

3. Because of going to Klamath Falls, I saw a horse.

_____________________________________________________________.

In these sentences the only difference will be the participle used in the sentence.

However the difference in the meaning of each sentence is fairly large. It has to do with the times of the actions in the sentence.
