Modoc-Klamath-Seminole Tribal Elder “kani sne’weets stinta hoqiis” – Woman Who Loves Life (Klamath Indian Name) Eloise passed away on Aug. 22, 2016, in Chiloquin, Ore. She was born on Feb. 10, 1934, in Holdenville, Okla., to Sherman Buddy Moppin Sr. and Mildred George. She loved all her family, friends and tribal people. The many prayers she said over her land, animals and tribal people still stand. Be blessed knowing she watches over us all now from heaven.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Linkriver Beal; great-grandmother, Isabelle Beal; grandfather, Miller George; grandmother, Bertha Beal George; father, Sherman Buddy Moppin Sr.; mother, Mildred George; brothers, Richard Moppin and Sherman Moppin Jr.; sister, Loyette “Lucy” Moppin-Jackson; daughter, Gloria Jackson-McWilliams; and nieces, Lisa “Lou” Jackson-Barrick, Merris Jackson-Collins and Melani Jackson.

Eloise is survived by her children, Crayton H. Jackson Sr., Timothy F. Wood, Carolyn “Seda” Wood, Marilyn “Molly” Wood, John “Buzz” S. Wood, Glenda M. Wood-Lena, Arvid R. Hoaglen Jr., Kayla J. Whiteturtle-Ohles and Stephanie P. Whiteturtle-Ohles; numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her adopted daughters through life.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, from noon to 5 p.m. in Davenport’s Chapel of the Good Shepherd at 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, OR 97601, 541-883-3448, which is in charge of the arrangements. A graveside service will be at 9 .m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Hill Cemetery, Chiloquin.
